About Frode Osen

Greetings, and thank you for visiting! My name is Frode Osen, but you can call me Frodo. I’m the Chief Editor here at Roman Empire History, where me and my team bring a passion for history and a wealth of experience that we truly believe will enhance your exploration of Roman antiquity.

Credentials and Expertise

I hold a degree in history and have performed years of dedicated research and study on classical Rome. Perhaps more importantly, I’m a 27-year-old pagan from the last village in Norway to be forcefully christened, thus retaining some of the Vikings’ penchant for polytheism; a good foundation for understanding the Romans and their multitude of gods among other things!

One project that has been consuming most of my available time in the past few years is creating an extensive reference source on the Roman Empire through my Norwegian website Romerriket.no – the training ground that has prepared me for finally “expanding the empire” and going global with this very site that you’re visiting now! It already has thousands of monthly readers, a number that is growing by the day.

(As a historian, I guess I should add a source to support this claim… therefore I’ll give you an up-close personal look at my Google Analytics dashboard right now!)

My qualifications include being a:

  • Trained Historian: I have received formal training in history from Nord University in Bodø, Norway, providing me with a strong foundation in historical research methods and critical analysis. This foundation is something I keep building on via a master’s degree specializing in Roman history at the University of Oslo. Furthermore, I constantly read new books, take online courses and keep up to date with archaeological news about the latest finds from ancient Rome.
  • Professional Writer: In my professional capacity, I have served as a CV and application writer at CVGuru for years, where I’ve assisted over 600 clients in effectively positioning themselves in the job market. This portfolio includes a diverse range of individuals, from world-class athletes and business leaders to medical doctors and mechanical engineers.

Apart from that, I have written hundreds of articles for various Norwegian businesses in my former position as a Professional Writer for a digital marketing company.
  • Physical Achievements: Beyond the world of academia, I enjoy competing in obstacle courses. Notably, I clinched the first-place finish in the Bergen X-Run 2019 and secured the third position in Totens Tøffeste 2022 (and no, I don’t expect you to have heard of those!). Another time, I was featured in a local newspaper north of the Arctic Circle for running 50km in blistering snow during a routine training run. Anything to be more like the Roman legions, eh?
